Changing the bios of society
By

Easter 2008
Today there is a lot of talk on how governments can change global
warming, how central banks can solve the current financial meltdown and
how human diseases can be eradicated by genetic engineering. But
legislation is the most imperative need particularly for the food
supply improved by genetic manipulations.
It is a government’s laws and legal regulations that constitute the
basic in–out social operations which govern economic exchange and
political, cultural and religious functions of that society.
In a computer the bios or “basic input output system” constitutes the
starting point of the whole system. The bios tests the component parts,
clears the CPU registers and loads an initial binary code into the main
memory so the computer can access the boot drive begin loading the
operating system and drivers.
In Biology “bios” is the Greek word meaning “life”, and it is the
genetic code within the DNA that forms the starting point for this
living being before the nutritional, environmental and societal
“operating system” kicks into the life process.
As above so below
Our ancestors saw symmetry in living plants where a tree’s foliage
mirrors the root structure beneath the ground. They extended this
agricultural concept “as above so below” to the heavens with their
timing of planting and religious harvest festivals. In the Christian Lord’s Prayer
the sentence “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven” echoes the
same logic.
The seasons were mapped by the yearly path of the Sun against the fixed
stellar background using the vernal equinox as the starting point of
the annual cycle. This March equinox (equal day and night) was the
first day of spring the northern hemisphere (autumn in the southern
hemisphere). It was followed 3 months later by the June solstice
(longest day in the northern hemisphere) which became the start of
summer. 3 months later the September equinox became the start of autumn
and the December solstice (shortest day) the start of winter.
Christianity celebrates Easter at the first full moon after the vernal
equinox and Christmas around the December solstice
The recurrent patterns and the charting of the planets in the sky were
later extended to other worships, cultural and political celebrations.
Jupiter’s 12 year cycle led to the further division of the sky and
naming of the 12 constellations of the stellar background on the
ecliptic (path of the Sun). Both the ancient Babylonians
and Chinese
astronomers charted the heavens on this basis.
The mapping of the sky also led to geographic exploration. At the
June solstice the Sun was directly overhead 23.5 degrees north or the
Tropic of Cancer. At equinoxes the Sun was directly overhead at the
Equator and the December solstice the Sun was directly overhead on the
Tropic of Capricorn (23.5 degrees south).
Eclipses and the transits of Venus led to
further discoveries of new lands and continents such as the Great South
Land (Australia). Exploration of the moon, planets and searching the
cosmos still remain a fundamental human endeavor to understand the
universe, our origin on earth and the future of humanity.
Pluto at world point in 2008
Since its discovery in 1930 our solar system’s only binary
or double planet
Pluto/Charon [1]
still remains at the centre of controversy. Pluto’s highly elliptical
and “comet like” orbit brings it within the orbit of Neptune from
February 1979 to February 1999. But the 3:2 orbital resonances of
Neptune and Pluto (500 years) keep the two planets from a non collision
course.

While astronomers have recently demoted Pluto to the status of a minor
planet because of its now known reduced size, astrologers are more and
more seeing it as a key to governing social bios or governmental and
legal regulations.
Revolving around each other every 7 days and perpendicular to
its 248 year path around the Sun, Pluto/Charon forms a double
helix orbit. A double helix is the basic structure of DNA, the famous
molecule of genetics that establishes each organism's physical
characteristics. It wasn't until mid-2001, that the Human Genome
Project presented the true nature and complexity of the digital code
inherent in DNA.
A planet’s transit of the Sun-Earth solstice and equinox points, which
mark the beginning of the seasons, are astrologically considered world
points. These fall at 0° of the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra
and Capricorn and represent power points of the zodiac.
Pluto’s transit of such power points is seen as triggering world wide
social change. [2]
Today in 2008 Pluto is transiting such a point namely the December
solstice (Sagittarius/Capricorn Cusp).
In Australia the new Rudd Labour Government has quickly has apologised
to the Aboriginal stolen generation, ratified the Kyoto protocol and
scrapped the anti-union “work choice” legislation of the previous
Howard government. Water conservation legislated measures of the
Murray-Darling Rivers, and a 2020 new ideas summit on global warming
are in the pipeline as is an Aussie troop pullout of Iraq.
On an international level reform of the United Nations Security Council
is on the agenda as is climate change as a human rights issue.
In the U.S. democratic presidential hopeful Senator Barak Obama’s
election strategy revolves around the concept of economic, political
and cultural change.
Pluto at world point in 1971-72
Change was also the slogan (It’s time) and
agenda with the Whitlam
Labor government in 1972 as Pluto transited the September equinox point
(Virgo-Libra cusp) as it swept
aside years of conservative cold war
Aussie government. Aussie troops were pulled out Vietnam and diplomatic
relations established with China. Equal pay for women and free tertiary
education soon followed.
In the U.S. we saw the Nixon government take the US dollar off the gold
standard and the Watergate scandal which initiated a new form of
investigative journalism.
At an international level the People's Republic of China took Taiwan’s
seat on the United Nations Security Council. The US and the Soviet
Union joined some 70 nations in signing an agreement to ban biological
warfare.
East Pakistan won independence with the name Bangladesh following India
Pakistan war of December 1971. Iraq nationalized the Iraq Petroleum
Company which saw a greater proportion of oil revenues flowing into the
coffers of former colonial countries.
October 1 1972 marked the birth of methodology of modern molecular
biology with the first publication reporting the production of a
recombinant DNA molecule.
12 years later Pluto changed zodiacal
signs in
1983-84 (enters Scorpio)
and
1995 (enters Sagittarius) which
also brought changes in social bios, albeit not necessarily on a world
scale.
In Australia government changed political colour on these cusps. The
Hawke/Keating Labour governments elected in March 1983 remained in
power until the end of 1995.
Some of the 1983-84 changes in Australia included
• The Australian Dollar is floated,
• Australia's publicly-funded universal health care
system Medicare comes into effect.
• “Advance Australia Fair” is proclaimed as
Australia's national anthem, with green and gold as the national
colours.
• Australian banks are deregulated
Elected on March 2 1996 on a
neo-liberal agenda of free trade privatisation the Howard
Liberal-National coalition policies rapidly mutated to a
neo-conservative agenda. Without an electoral mandate to do so, it
brought in good and services taxation, increased defence and security
spending and anti-union legislation. It remained in power until its
defeat in late November 2007
Some of events in 1995 under the neo-liberal Clinton administration in
the United States became precursors to the later neo-conservative post
9-11 witch hunts were,
• Timothy McVeigh’s Oklahoma City bombing: 168
people, including 8 Federal Marshals and 19 children, are killed at the
Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building
• The Million Man March is held in Washington, D.C.
The event was conceived by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
Pluto at world point in 1914
With Pluto’s transit of the June solstice point (Cusp of Gemini Cancer)
World War I began as monopoly capitalism bread a jingoistic bios and
selfish scramble for resources, raw materials and land as the modern
imperial powers fought to re-divide the world.
With Pluto’s entry into
Leo in 1937-38
we saw the beginning of World War 2, namely with the Spanish Civil War
and Sino-Japanese War culminating with the Nanjing massacre where
Japanese troops would slaughter over 250,000 civilians and prisoners
over three months.
Meeting with Hitler on secret anti-Soviet agenda, Neville Chamberlain’s
"Peace in Our Time” was proved unfounded as German troops marched into
Sudetenland.
In Germany on November 9 1938, Kristallnacht the "night of broken
glass" began as Nazi troops and racist sympathizers loot and burn
Jewish businesses.
With Pluto entry into mutable
Virgo
in 1956-57 the Suez Crisis begins,
Israel invades the Sinai Peninsula and push Egyptian forces back toward
the Suez Canal and Britain and France begin bombing Egypt. But contrary
to expectation the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution
calling for the United Kingdom, France and Israel to withdraw their
troops from Arab lands immediately. Other events included
• Fidel Castro and his followers land on Cuba in the
boat Granma
• Khrushchev denounces the "cult of personality" of
Stalin
• Treaty of Rome establishes the European Economic
Community (EEC)
• The International Atomic Energy Agency is
established
Pluto at world point in 1821-22
Pluto transit the March equinox point (Pisces
Aries cusp) brought about
a dramatic world wide change with the demise of Spain and Portugal as
colonial powers in the Americas, particularly Latin America. Greece
also began winning its independence from the Ottoman Empire.
Conclusion
2008 is a critical year for people worldwide to lobby their governments
to legislate dramatic changes to deal with climate change, the
political economy and the genetics of human life itself.
The new technology is already at hand but we need our leaders to have
enough ticker to take on such initiatives, if not we need to dismiss
them. In the words of Mao
Zedong,
So many deeds cry out to be done,
And always urgently;
The world rolls on,
Time presses.
Ten thousand years are too long,
Seize the day, seize the hour!
The Four Seas are rising, clouds and water raging,
The Five Continents are rocking, wind and thunder roaring.
Our force is irresistible,
Away with all pests!

Tombaugh (1906-97) Astronomer who discovered the Solar System's
ninth
planet", Nature 385 (1997) 778 (Pluto and
Charon are
"the only known example of a true double planet".)
[2] Due to
the precision
of the
equinoxes the astrological world points of the tropical zodiac
cusps
are now
only notional or mathematical relativistic points. They no longer
correspond to
sidereal observations against the stellar background as they did 2000
years
ago. 5,000 years ago, the vernal equinox was close to the star
Aldebaran of Taurus. Now, it has shifted to somewhere in the
constellation of Pisces.
